> **Direct answer:** Download Grok Bot for Mac from [x.ai/bot](https://x.ai/bot). Choose **Apple silicon** or **Intel** to match your Mac, open the disk image, drag **Grok Bot** to **Applications**, open it, and choose **Sign in**.

These steps follow xAI's [getting started guide](https://docs.x.ai/grok-bot/get-started), checked on October 27, 2026.

## Which Mac download do I need?

Open **Apple menu → About This Mac**.

- A **Chip** line (M1, M2, M3, M4 and later) means **Apple silicon**.
- A **Processor** line (Intel Core) means **Intel**.

Both are supported. They are separate downloads, so pick the one that matches.

## How do I install Grok Bot on a Mac?

- Go to [x.ai/bot](https://x.ai/bot) and download the build for your chip.
- Open the disk image.
- Drag **Grok Bot** into **Applications**.
- Open Grok Bot. If macOS asks, choose **Open**.
- Choose **Sign in**, finish in the browser, and come back to the app.

You need an eligible plan to sign in: a paid Cursor plan, Cursor Teams, an individual SuperGrok plan linked to your Cursor account, or a self-serve Grok Business seat. [How to use Grok Bot](/academy/how-to-use-grok-bot) covers the first task after sign-in.

## Why does my Mac say Grok Bot is not supported?

First check you downloaded the build for your chip: see **About This Mac** above, and if it does not match, download the other build and install again. If the right build still will not open, update macOS and try again. xAI's guides do not publish a minimum macOS version.

## Does Grok Bot run on my Mac or in the cloud?

The app runs on your Mac, but the Bot's work happens on a separate computer in the cloud. Closing your laptop does not stop a task. Running commands on your Mac itself needs local access switched on, and even then the Bot asks you each time by default. Read [Does Grok Bot use your computer?](/academy/grok-bot-cloud-computer-local-access-and-security).

## Is Grok Bot on the Mac App Store?

xAI's guide sends Mac users to the download at x.ai/bot, not the Mac App Store. The App Store listing is the iPhone app, which also runs on iPad. See [Grok Bot supported platforms](/academy/grok-bot-supported-platforms) for Windows, Linux, iPhone and Android.

## What should I add first?

A new install starts with one Bot called Grok Bot. The quickest way to see what it can do is to add a ready-made Bot and give it one real task. Browse [Grok Bot templates](/grok-bot-templates) or the [best Grok Bots](/best-grok-bots) to pick one.
